OUR STORY

I started in the crating industry when I was 16 years old and worked for two companies for a number of years. When I realized there was no room for advancement, I left the packaging industry to pursue my carpentry ticket. In the year 2000 I was approached by some of my past customers about starting a packaging company. So with a huge desire to run my own show and 10 years of experience under my belt, the idea was formulated: provide clients with a superior product backed by unmatched service…. And thus Boxer Building and Crating was born.

I had just purchased a house and had no job (scary to say the least!), so it was sink or swim. I started out by manufacturing crates out of my garage that quickly transitioned to a single-bay warehouse on the south side of Edmonton. I had the basic equipment but no forklift so that was the next purchase but for the time being I had the space and my work ethic to propel me through. I would unload trucks by hand and work many long hours, sacrificing holiday time and vacations for numerous years in order to establish my company name and reputation for the quality product Boxer produced.

At the five year mark, I expanded my staff and space and took over the warehouse beside me to continue expanding Boxer. I realized after a few more years that this was not going to suffice and that I needed even more space and a yard. I felt that as my name and company gained traction and earned a stellar reputation, that with a larger and specialized facility more people would want what I had to offer. So, I once again decided to move Boxer Building and Crating. I found some land and constructed the building where I currently reside; a 10000 sq. foot state of the art shop with over an acre of paved yard. Combine that with an 8′ perimeter fence, specialized high-security lighting and an insanely skilled and dedicated crew, and you get crating, shipping and warehousing solutions that are the best our industry has to offer.

In 2017 with our growing clientele and their needs we made the decision to relocate to a location with more indoor space to accommodate our clients needs for storage so we have situated ourselves in a high traffic easy truck access location right on 50th street with convenient access to the Whitemud and the Henday.

As a business owner I discovered that being in business means identifying and fulfilling a need for your clientele: the need for excellent service, for a superb product and for a relationship built on trust and fairness. I took the steps to rebrand my company in order to emphasize the quality and service we provide and have never looked back. I have surrounded myself with people who believe in what we do and share my passion for the direction we want to move which is forward.
